As many of you have heard baby Shelle (aka Isaac Aaron) decided to follow in his big brother's foot steps and arrive 6 weeks early (August 20th at 2:25am).
The labor and delivery process was very similar to Aiden's except this time I was at one of my patient's houses when my water broke (hmmm that was awkward). As with Aiden I labored for about 16 hours before delivery and only had to push a few times to deliver (Isaac actually came out so quickly the doctor didn't even have time to get both her gloves on).

Isaac weighed in at a whopping 5lb 15oz and was 20 inches long. He came out crying but because of his prematurity was taken right up to the ICU. He was put on CPAP and stayed on the CPAP until this afternoon. At that time they decided that he was working too hard to breath and was not making any improvements so they put a ET tube in and started him on the ventilator. As much as I was hoping to avoid the ventilator he does appear to be much more comfortable and with the ventilator they can give him medication directly into his lungs to help with his breathing. Right now they don't anticipate him needing to be on the ventilator for too long but as always in the NICU it is not really predictable.

Sooo once again we had to come home from the hospital without our baby (BIG bummer) - but are glad that he is being well taken care of. I do have some pics of him but don't have the energy to upload them right now so I will get them up tomorrow with another update of how the night went :)

Once again, congratulations on the new addition to Team Shelle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Isaac comes home soon.
