Due Date

Today is my official due date - crazy to think that we should just be meeting Isaac today. The last 6 weeks have been crazy but great. Nothing is better the having a little baby sleeping on your chest and an Aiden John snuggled up next to you. Ahhhh my boys... they are awesome (that includes you dad !!)

The doctor said that he was doing great - really no concerns. We did go ahead and snip his tongue due to the fact that nursing had been really painful for me. The procedure took like 5 seconds and he hardly cried at all. It does seem to have helped with the pain and as you can tell from the weight he is not having any trouble eating.

Aiden is also doing great. The doctor had no concerns and neither did we. The apt however was much more traumatic - Aiden cried throughout pretty much the whole visit. He actually probably cried more when I put him on the scale then when they gave him his flu shot .

2 Year / New Born Portraits

Big Boy Bed

We bought a toddler bed for Aiden several months ago but decided not to try making the move until a few months after the baby came home (one change at a time). However today I put the new bedding on the bed, moved Aiden's name to above the bed, and spent the afternood playing in the bed with Aiden.So tonight when I told Aiden it was time for bed he said "Aiden big bed?" ....hmmm could it be this easy. So we read a book and I tucked him into the big boy bed - after I left the room there was about 2 minutes of crying and then we watched him (on our new video monitor) climb into bed and we haven't heard a peep since !!

1st Bath

Isaac's umbilical cord FINALLY fell off this weekend so we had our first real bath on Sat. As you can see from the picture below he was not a fan (we have had a few baths since then and he has not cried at all).

Here is a long overdue update on Team Shelle.

Isaac is doing GREAT !! We went to the doctor last Monday (8/31) and he weighed in at 6lb 1oz and was still 20 inches long. The doc said that everything looked really good and since he is past his birth weight and not really a preemie (size wise) we don't have to go back until his one month check up. He continues to do great with the nursing despite being tongue tied (the doctor said that as long as he is eating they don't need to do any intervention for this). He is a very pleasant baby so far - only really fussing when he wants to eat or be held. Unfortunately he wants to eat about every 1 1/2 to 2 hours so that means not so much sleep for mom (though I have gotten really good at nursing in my sleep). We are hoping that he will start to sleep a little more but for now we are just going on Isaac's schedule.

Aiden continues to amaze me adjusting to the new addition. He is very interested in the baby, likes to pat his head, and gives him his paci (whether Isaac wants is to not) when he is fussing. He hasn't really shown any jealousy though we have worked really hard to make sure we are still giving Aiden the attention he needs. As of the 31st he is officially 2 which is just crazy to me - it seems like just yesterday that he was born.

As for us - Aaron has started another semester at CMU and I am enjoying maternity leave. Since our lives pretty much revolve around the boys now there is not much new to report about us :)

Aiden's Birthday

Despite the craziness of having a baby in the hospital we managed to do a little party for Aiden's Birthday on Saturday. We went up to the Sheridan cottage where all the Shelle's and some good family friends were staying for the weekend. We only stayed for the day but had a really good time. Aiden fully enjoyed his cake and presents and it was nice to see everyone. Of course the day was made even better since we got to pick up Isaac from the hospital that night!!

I can't believe that my baby is TWO !!! It seems like he was just born !!

Aiden is very into cooking right now so the microwave and food set from Nana and Papa was a big hit.
