Aiden's 3

Aiden turned 3 a few weeks ago (yikes). He is just growing and learning so fast it is amazing. He talks ALL the time and loves to preform scenes from movies we have watched. He has learned the joys of timeouts and we have learned the joys of toddler meltdowns but generally he is just a awesome little person. His well child visit went well but he did not pass the eye exam so we have to take him to an optometrist to get checked out - I am hopeful that he didn't get my terrible eyes.

Isaac's 1

Hard to believe that Isaac is one already. We had several fun birthday parties and lots of great presents. We also had his 1 year well child doctor apt and everything looked good. He is crawling a full speed and seems to be thinking about walking but isn't quite there yet. He has recently gotten 3 new teeth so he now had a total of 4. He is sleeping better at night, usually only getting up once. He continues to be a fun and smiley baby though recently he has started doing the "flop & cry" when he doesn't get his way. He LOVES his big brother and is very tolerant of Aiden's sometimes very forceful hugs.

Bees

As some of you know we have had ongoing problems with bees in the siding of our house. Thankfully they have mostly been outside but we have had times when they are inside too (mmmm). Isaac decided to take over bee swatting patrol one morning and although he wasn't a very successful bee killer he sure was cute!!

Super Zoo

A few weeks ago we took a trip to the Detroit Zoo (aka "The Super Zoo"). We had a great time and were surprised how nice the zoo was. We survived the day with only 1 meltdown (it was nap time and the hippo was MIA). Aiden still talks about the Super Zoo and all the animals we saw there.

As Isaac has become more mobile and more interested in toys it has been fun to watch the interaction between him and Aiden. He obviously LOVES his big brother and spends lots of time watching him with a look of awe in his eyes. He also finds it hilarious when Aiden tackles him and lays on top of him. Aiden does a pretty good job sharing with him and always insists that he loves him (although this is sometimes after he has pushed him over). He also likes to says that things are little and cute like Isaac :)

Sleep

I LOVE to sneak into the boys room at night and watch them sleep. Not only do I love it because it is one of the few times that our house is quiet but the are also just so stinking cute !

As you can tell Aiden likes to take a few toys to bed with him. He is actually really good about going to bed - he will lay in bed and play quietly with his toys until he falls asleep. I always take the toys out of his bed after he falls asleep because snuggling with Buzz Lightyear just doesn't seem comfortable.

Chicago

On June 11 Aaron & I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary (and 11 years as a couple). We left the kids with Nana & Papa and Aunt Michelle and went to Indiana / Chicago. Despite the rain we had a great time. We ate at some awesome restaurants, went to the Blues Festival, watched the World Cup Game, and just enjoyed the time together.

Grand Haven

We made the first trip of the summer to Grand Haven State Park today. Although the drive down was a challenge (sooooo much traffic it took 3 hours & mom doesn't do well in traffic jams) it was an awesome day. Can't wait to do it again!
